This position goes far beyond traditional leadership roles. It’s about enabling triple win outcomes: for patients, ecosystems, and Roche.
ABOUT ROCHE
Roche is a globally trusted name in biotechnology, diagnostics, and personalized healthcare, with a powerful mission: to do now what patients need next. With more than 100,000 employees globally, and 26 million people treated with Roche medicines annually, the company leads with innovation, ethics, and a relentless commitment to healthcare access, affordability, and advancement.
Operating in over 100 countries, Roche fosters a culture where diversity, inclusion, and integrity are not just values—they are daily practices. The organization empowers individuals to be their authentic selves, enabling breakthroughs through borderless collaboration and scientific excellence.
This is your opportunity to join Roche’s Pharma International (PI) network, work across multiple Sub-Saharan African countries, and engage with communities, regulators, healthcare professionals, and thought leaders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Disease Area Squad Lead (Breast Cancer – SSA), you will serve as the integrator and steward of outcomes across countries, squads, and disciplines. Your work will directly influence Roche’s vision to prevent, stop, and cure disease across Africa.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Vision Leadership:
Set a clear, compelling North Star ambition for the Disease Area (DA) squad focused on Breast Cancer outcomes across Sub-Saharan Africa. Drive team alignment, cross-functional execution, and country-level collaboration. -
Outcome-Based Strategic Planning:
Use outcome-based planning methodologies, with full accountability for squad execution and strategic delivery—ensuring that all efforts link back to impactful, measurable results. -
Agile Team Leadership:
Champion agile principles, host retrospectives, refine processes, and embed a culture of experimentation, feedback, and rapid iteration within the squad environment. -
Cross-Border Collaboration:
Operate across affiliate borders—co-leading multi-country virtual squads and aligning goals with regional and global partners. This includes working closely with Roche global and PI hubs. -
Squad Synergy & Resource Allocation:
Collaborate with other Disease Area Squad Leads to balance squad priorities, share resources, eliminate duplication, and create scalable solutions for broader patient access across Africa. -
Voice of the Customer (VOC):
Embed co-creation into every step. Partner with external stakeholders, patients, HCPs, payers, and health systems to ensure that all solutions represent their evolving needs. -
Mentorship & Coaching:
Act as a VACC leader (Visionary, Architect, Coach, Catalyst) for squad members—empowering talent, enabling team agility, and fostering continuous professional growth. -
End-to-End Accountability:
Define, lead, and routinely assess the entire squad ecosystem, including product backlog, budget oversight, capability development, and outcome delivery. -
Systems-Level Impact:
Collaborate beyond traditional product boundaries—engaging in Roche’s transformation into a solutions company. Design and deliver ecosystem-focused strategies that strengthen healthcare access, equity, and resilience in the region.
