About NEAR (Network for Empowered Aid Response) & Adeso

NEAR (Network for Empowered Aid Response) is a coalition of Global South civil society organizations working to shift power and resources to local actors. NEAR fosters member-led advocacy, leadership development, and localization initiatives, ensuring that communities directly impacted by humanitarian issues have a voice in global discussions.

This internship is hosted by Adeso (African Development Solutions), an organization dedicated to transforming the humanitarian and development sector through localized solutions that empower communities and civil society actors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Online Course Support:

  • Assist in the coordination and scheduling of online training sessions.
  • Organize, format, and distribute course materials including presentations, reading resources, and recorded sessions.
  • Ensure smooth operations of virtual training by setting up online meetings.
  • Collect feedback from Delegates after each session to enhance training quality.

2. Resource Library Development:

  • Maintain an organized and structured digital Resource Library.
  • Upload and categorize training materials, research papers, presentations, and key reference documents.
  • Assist in translating materials into multiple languages to ensure accessibility.

3. Observation and Accompaniment Stage Support:

  • Schedule and coordinate observation sessions between Delegates and experienced advocates.
  • Support preparation of background documents for Delegates before engagements.
  • Collect post-session feedback to evaluate learning outcomes and track progress.

4. Representation Phase Support:

  • Monitor and track Delegates’ participation at global events and maintain a rotation tracking system.
  • Support Delegates in compiling event reports, debriefs, and post-event insights.
  • Assist with travel-related logistics, including travel authorization forms and compliance processes.

5. Additional Administrative & Supportive Tasks:

  • Provide general administrative support in documentation, communication, and coordination.
  • Assist in organizing networking events, meetings, and advocacy forums.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (recent graduate) in International Relations, Development Studies, Education, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in humanitarian and/or development sectors.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Experience using cloud-based platforms (SharePoint, Google Drive, etc.) for resource management.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
  • Preference will be given to applicants from the Global South.
  • Must be located in a country where working hours overlap with Central European Time (CET) by at least 4 hours (8 AM – 4 PM CET).

Supervision and Reporting

The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Network Influencing Coordinator, providing regular reports on progress related to assigned responsibilities.
