KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Vacancy 1: Data Platform Engineer – NGO Tech Infrastructure Role

  • Manage the full lifecycle of the Azure-based cloud infrastructure supporting the Data Analytics Platform (DAP).
  • Deploy and manage virtual machines, storage solutions, and security firewalls for optimal performance and compliance.
  • Use Terraform, PowerShell, and other automation tools to build repeatable infrastructure templates.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers to streamline ingestion pipelines from unstructured and external data sources.
  • Tune system configurations and query performance to scale as data volume increases.
  • Follow Agile sprint planning practices and manage version control via Git.

Vacancy 2: Data Analytics Engineer – ETL Pipeline Developer (Azure/SQL)

  • Collaborate with internal teams to extract and analyze structured data from business systems.
  • Develop custom SQL scripts and use ETL tools to load clean, validated datasets into the DAP.
  • Translate raw data into actionable insights for sustainability, supply chain, and impact projects.
  • Apply dimensional modeling and Data Vault techniques for scalable warehouse design.
  • Maintain and monitor job schedulers, error logs, and dashboard feeds in Power BI.
  • Use Git and other DevOps workflows to track versioned changes and code reviews.

Vacancy 3: Data Detective – Investigative Data Analyst & QA Engineer

  • Serve as second-line support for internal teams who rely on the DAP for real-time data access.
  • Dive deep into datasets to identify inconsistencies, mapping errors, and logic gaps.
  • Use SQL queries and statistical techniques to analyze anomalies and present root-cause analysis.
  • Test data pipelines and recommend enhancements in logic, indexing, or formatting.
  • Create documentation, visual schemas, and test suites for ongoing quality assurance.
  • Work closely with developers, end-users, and project managers.

Vacancy 4: Senior Data Analytics Engineer – NGO Thought Leader & Mentor

  • Refine vague business problems into technical solutions through stakeholder collaboration.
  • Lead efforts in designing new data marts using third normal form, dimensional, and Data Vault modeling.
  • Provide architecture support to developers and ensure technical debt is minimized.
  • Coach junior team members and guide sprint execution through technical feedback.
  • Evaluate and optimize current use of Data Virtuality, Power BI, and Azure Synapse.
  • Advocate for standardization, documentation, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required for All Roles:

  • Fluent in English
  • Legally authorized to work in Kenya
  • Proficient in SQL and comfortable navigating cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred)
  • Experience with Git or other version control tools
  • Excellent communication and cross-cultural collaboration
  • Agile mindset and sprint-based work style

Specific Requirements:

Data Platform Engineer

  • 5+ years managing cloud data infrastructure (Azure or AWS)
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python)
  • DBA experience and data security best practices

Data Analytics Engineer

  • 3+ years in ETL pipeline development
  • Familiarity with Data Vault and warehouse concepts
  • Hands-on skills in Power BI and report delivery

Data Detective

  • 3+ years in data quality, testing, or analysis roles
  • Strong investigative mindset and detail orientation
  • Experience supporting large data platforms

Senior Data Analytics Engineer

  • 7+ years in data engineering or architecture
  • Strong mentoring and stakeholder-facing skills
  • Broad platform expertise: Power BI, Azure, Data Virtuality
