The Associate – Sustainability Consulting position is a full-time, Nairobi-based opportunity designed for ambitious, analytical professionals who want to work at the forefront of ESG strategy, sustainability audits, compliance support, and corporate impact assessments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Associate in the Sustainability Consulting team, your core duties will include:

  • Client Engagement & Coordination
    Support in preparing and attending internal and external client meetings, recording key discussion points and follow-ups.

  • ESG Research & Analysis
    Conduct in-depth research on assigned topics in sustainability, including ESG trends, climate risk, and regulatory requirements.

  • Field Work Execution
    Participate in onsite assessments and data collection activities for various assignments across Kenya or the East Africa region.

  • Proposal and Tender Support
    Contribute to sustainability-related proposals, tenders, and prequalification documents by conducting background research and formatting responses.

  • Knowledge Management
    Assist in the development of sustainability training content and support internal knowledge-sharing sessions across advisory teams.

  • Process Mapping and Interviews
    Conduct interviews with client staff to document workflows, identify gaps, and support development of sustainability roadmaps.

  • Drafting Reports and Presentations
    Prepare content for client deliverables, including PowerPoint presentations and narrative reports aligned with ESG standards and findings.

  • Due Diligence and Readiness Assessments
    Support senior team members in conducting environmental and social due diligence, materiality assessments, and ESG maturity evaluations.

  • Support Monitoring and Reporting
    Contribute to tracking client KPIs and indicators aligned with international sustainability frameworks (e.g., SDGs, GRI, SASB).

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess the following:

  • Educational Background:
    Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

  • Professional Certifications (Preferred):
    Ongoing or completed qualifications in CPA, ACCA, CFA, or CIA will be an added advantage.

  • Experience Level:
    1–2 years of professional work experience in consulting, advisory services, ESG roles, or related fields.

  • Research and Analysis:
    Ability to conduct evidence-based research and translate findings into actionable insights.

  • Communication:
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong reporting and presentation abilities.

  • Technology:
    Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and digital collaboration tools. Exposure to ESG reporting platforms is a bonus.

  • Soft Skills:
    A detail-oriented team player who is proactive, organized, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

  • ESG Knowledge:
    Awareness of sustainability frameworks such as the UN SDGs, TCFD, GRI, SASB, and ISO standards is desirable.
