ROLE OVERVIEW

As Associate Dean of Residential Life, you will:

  • Champion Nova culture by shaping a nurturing, safe, and enriching student boarding experience
  • Implement student life strategies to ensure academic, behavioral, and emotional development
  • Manage the overall boarding environment including policies, staffing, discipline, and after-school enrichment activities
  • Collaborate with families and staff to build a vibrant, supportive residential community

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the implementation of Student Life strategy and effective use of resources
  • Design and track progress against Residential Life goals for the academic year
  • Participate in the school management team and offer leadership in residential matters
  • Teach up to 12 lessons per week in your subject of expertise
  • Manage and supervise the Dorm Mothers and the School Nurse
  • Oversee boarding move-in/move-out logistics as per school calendar
  • Create and implement student safety and health preparedness plans
  • Enforce and ensure consistency in the School Behaviour Policy
  • Draft and administer residence policies, housing contracts, and safety records
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding residential concerns and activities
  • Coordinate with security for student safety protocols
  • Organize and supervise clubs, sports, and co-curricular activities
  • Develop, review, and implement the boarding teacher duty roster
  • Perform administrative duties related to dormitory operations and student records
  • Collaborate with the Behavior Committee to ensure discipline fairness and growth

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Academic & Professional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education (TSC Certification required)
  • Master’s degree in Education or Social Sciences (preferred but not mandatory)

Required Experience

  • Proven experience as a Boarding Mistress or similar role in a student residential setting
  • Senior management experience with a successful record leading student life programs
  • Deep familiarity with youth development, preferably through mentorship, coaching, or counseling
  • Experience supporting teen-centered programs that encourage holistic development

  • Deep understanding of boarding operations and best practices
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and conflict resolution skills
  • Empathetic communicator with a positive, can-do attitude
  • A passion for education, youth mentorship, and values-driven leadership
