BTL is currently hiring for three strategic hospitality positions: Assistant Manager – Catering & Accommodation, Housekeeping Supervisor, and Head Waiter. Each role offers a unique opportunity to combine professional skills with a heartfelt calling to serve a Christian community. ABOUT BIBLE TRANSLATION & LITERACY (BTL)
Bible Translation and Literacy (East Africa), widely known as BTL, is a Christian organization committed to translating the Bible into indigenous languages and promoting literacy for the spiritual and social development of communities. With a deep-rooted Christian foundation, BTL seeks team members who are not only skilled professionals but also born-again Christians of good standing, demonstrating spiritual maturity, integrity, and a strong sense of calling to serve.
The BTL Conference Centre in Ruiru provides a serene environment for retreats, seminars, workshops, and events. The Centre offers top-tier hospitality services anchored in Christian values, making it a unique setting where professional excellence is harmonized with faith-driven service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
VACANCY 1: Assistant Manager – Catering and Accommodation (1 Position)
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of catering and accommodation services at the Centre
- Supervise kitchen, dining, and housekeeping teams to ensure seamless hospitality delivery
- Develop and implement catering menus and accommodation packages tailored to client needs
- Ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards
- Coordinate procurement, inventory control, and supplier relationships
- Handle client bookings, special event coordination, and customer feedback
- Prepare monthly performance and financial reports for management review
- Lead staff training, performance evaluations, and team motivation activities
- Resolve guest complaints and escalate issues as needed to uphold service quality
- Maintain compliance with all statutory health and safety regulations
VACANCY 2: Housekeeping Supervisor (1 Position)
- Supervise housekeeping staff and ensure cleanliness standards across all rooms and public spaces
- Allocate duties and inspect assigned areas to ensure quality assurance
- Maintain records of cleaning schedules, supply inventory, and laundry services
- Train and coach housekeeping staff on safety, etiquette, and efficiency
- Liaise with the maintenance team to report and track repairs and facility upkeep
- Ensure timely replenishment of guest supplies and room amenities
- Monitor linen usage and coordinate with the laundry department for timely deliveries
- Enforce hygiene protocols in compliance with health regulations
- Address guest concerns related to accommodation and cleanliness promptly
VACANCY 3: Head Waiter (1 Position)
- Supervise dining room staff and coordinate all meal service operations
- Assign shifts, monitor floor coverage, and ensure courteous service by all team members
- Welcome guests and assist in taking special requests for meals or dietary needs
- Train new wait staff in customer service protocols and food handling procedures
- Oversee the setting of tables, buffet arrangements, and cleanliness of dining areas
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure meal orders are fulfilled efficiently
- Handle customer feedback and service recovery in a professional manner
- Assist in inventory tracking for cutlery, crockery, and service equipment
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
All candidates must meet the following baseline qualifications in addition to role-specific expertise:
- Must be a born-again Christian with good standing in their faith community
- Demonstrated spiritual maturity, team spirit, and a strong sense of calling
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in similar roles
- Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Operations, or a related field
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities
- Knowledge of hospitality software, inventory systems, and booking platforms is an added advantage
Additional role-specific competencies include:
- Assistant Manager: Minimum of 3-5 years in a senior hospitality management role; financial acumen
- Housekeeping Supervisor: Minimum of 2 years in housekeeping supervision; attention to detail
- Head Waiter: At least 2 years in a lead waiter or food & beverage supervisory role; excellent guest relations
