Introduction

Africa Solutions Ltd is seeking a skilled and visionary Architect to join our client’s team in Nairobi, Kenya. As an Architect, you will lead the creative and technical aspects of designing and constructing buildings and structures. You will collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to transform ideas into reality while ensuring functionality, sustainability, and compliance with safety standards. Key Responsibilities

As an Architect, your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Design and Planning
    • Create detailed building plans and drawings using CAD software or traditional hand-drawn methods.
    • Conceptualize designs that are functional, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing.
    • Ensure designs comply with planning laws, environmental standards, and client requirements.
  2. Collaboration
    • Work closely with construction professionals, including engineers, contractors, and surveyors, to evaluate project feasibility.
    • Consult with authorities and stakeholders to address planning applications and legal requirements.
  3. Project Management
    • Oversee projects from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and safety standards.
    • Prepare and present reports, proposals, contracts, and specifications.
    • Resolve construction challenges and modify designs as necessary.
  4. Client Engagement
    • Meet with clients to understand their needs and translate them into tailored designs.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and research on environmental impacts to align with client goals.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Professional Membership

  • Membership with Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) and/or Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS).

Experience

  • A minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in architecture.
  • Proven portfolio showcasing a history of successful architectural projects.

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in architectural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
  • Familiarity with project management processes and construction techniques.

Additional Attributes

  • Strong problem-solving abilities to resolve construction issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of planning laws, environmental regulations, and budget management.
