KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Actuarial Valuations and Technical Calculations
- Prepare calculations under supervision from senior analysts, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Conduct data checks, formatting, and analysis for actuarial valuations and financial reviews.
- Draft valuation reports and contribute to their timely completion for client delivery.
- Perform individual benefit calculations strictly in accordance with scheme trust deeds and rules.
- Ensure all actuarial work adheres to Zamara’s internal quality control and documentation procedures.
Client Interaction and Relationship Management
- Communicate with client representatives to request information and clarify data discrepancies as needed.
- Attend client meetings and presentations alongside senior team members to build confidence in client service protocols.
- Foster professionalism and clarity in external communications.
Learning, Development, and Innovation
- Engage in continuous technical training focused on actuarial software, Excel modeling, and internal actuarial systems.
- Understand the procedures and workflows used in delivering individual calculations and full actuarial valuations.
- Participate in research and development initiatives, including process automation and report enhancements.
- Contribute to process improvement discussions and raise inefficiencies for resolution.
- Assist in contributions to the actuarial profession in Kenya, supporting knowledge-sharing forums or industry initiatives under the direction of senior staff.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Academic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from a recognized institution.
- Minimum attainment of Second-Class Upper Division.
- Graduated within the last 2 years.
- Mean Grade B+ or higher in KCSE or its equivalent.
Technical Proficiencies
- Strong Microsoft Excel and general MS Office skills
- Sound understanding of basic actuarial mathematics and statistics
- Capacity to build technical knowledge in insurance, pensions, and financial modeling
- Working knowledge of actuarial or statistical tools is advantageous (e.g., R, Python, Prophet, Excel VBA)
