INTRODUCTION
Equity Afia, a leading network of outpatient medical centers under the Equity Group Foundation, is recruiting four (4) qualified Pharmaceutical Technologists for its Ruiru branch. This recruitment aims to strengthen the team of frontline healthcare professionals who support the delivery of safe, effective, and affordable health services to communities.
The positions are open to registered pharmacy professionals with demonstrated experience in either hospital or retail pharmacy settings. Successful candidates will be responsible for dispensing medications, maintaining stock integrity, supporting clinical staff, and upholding regulatory compliance as per Pharmacy and Poisons Board guidelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Pharmaceutical Technologist at Equity Afia – Ruiru, you will:
- Dispense prescribed medications accurately and efficiently to patients, ensuring proper labeling, packaging, and documentation.
- Provide medication counseling to patients, educating them on dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Monitor stock levels, maintain accurate inventory records, and place timely reorders to prevent stock-outs or overstocking.
- Ensure safe storage of pharmaceutical products in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Participate in stock-taking exercises, drug audits, and preparation of inventory reports.
- Adhere to regulatory standards set by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board and Ministry of Health.
- Assist in preparation of extemporaneous compounds, if required.
- Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other clinical staff to ensure accurate prescriptions and proper documentation.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient data and uphold professional ethics in all interactions.
- Keep the pharmacy workspace organized, clean, and compliant with infection control standards.
- Report any pharmacovigilance issues or adverse drug reactions to the relevant authority.
- Support clinic-level health education and outreach campaigns when required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
- Registration and valid license with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya (PPB).
- At least one (1) year of work experience in a hospital or pharmacy setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmacological categories, medication handling, and prescription protocols.
Additional Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in computer applications, including pharmacy management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Good communication skills for interacting with patients, suppliers, and clinical teams.
- High levels of integrity, accuracy, and accountability.
- Strong understanding of drug storage practices, cold chain protocols, and controlled substances.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
- Understanding of universal health coverage, NHIF medication schemes, and basic insurance billing.
- Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Strong customer service orientation and empathy in patient care.
