INTRODUCTION
Founded in 1959, the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) is the most influential employers’ organization in Kenya. With over 5,000 active members, FKE serves as the voice of employers at both national and international levels. The organization advocates on issues of employment, labor relations, human capital development, and policy dialogue across sectors.
In line with its mandate to foster workplace transformation and inclusivity, FKE has led various capacity-building initiatives. Its Female Future Kenya (FFP-K) program is a trailblazing response to the underrepresentation of women in executive leadership and boardrooms.
Now in its latest cohort, the FFP-K program is calling for qualified facilitators to deliver its three critical modules: Rhetoric, Leadership, and Board Competence. These facilitators will help mentor, equip, and elevate women professionals into high-impact leadership positions across sectors in Kenya.
ABOUT THE FEMALE FUTURE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (FFP-K)
The Female Future Kenya (FFP-K) program was launched in 2013 in partnership with The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprises (NHO). It has since graduated over 400 women leaders, with many now occupying influential roles across government, civil society, the private sector, and regional institutions.
This 9-month, modular, experiential learning program covers three areas vital to leadership success:
- Leadership Development: To cultivate visionary, ethical, and transformative leadership
- Rhetoric & Communication: To enhance articulation, persuasion, and stakeholder influence
- Board Competence: To empower women with practical skills to serve effectively on boards
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM
- To increase the number of women in mid-to-top level decision-making roles
- To enhance gender equity within the workplace
- To develop boardroom-ready talent that meets national and global governance standards
FACILITATION ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
FKE is seeking three dynamic professionals to join its pool of certified facilitators. The selected facilitators will design and deliver high-quality, interactive training tailored to Kenya’s unique leadership landscape.
1. Rhetoric Module Facilitator – 1 Position
Core Responsibility: To deliver training that improves rhetorical skills, persuasion techniques, and verbal presentation for emerging female leaders.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- Minimum 7 years of leadership or communication-related experience
- Certified in Public Speaking, Media Engagement, or Strategic Communication
- Demonstrated training expertise in voice control, stage presence, persuasive messaging
- Track record in inspiring, engaging, and building confidence among adult learners
Preferred: Alumni of FFP-K or past facilitators of executive communication workshops
Key Deliverables:
- Equip women with techniques for parliamentary, boardroom, and public speaking
- Design and execute speech simulations, mock interviews, and storytelling activities
2. Leadership Module Facilitator – 1 Position
Core Responsibility: To guide participants in discovering and developing their personal leadership philosophy and organizational management skills.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, Business Administration, or related discipline
- At least 7 years experience in C-suite or senior management roles
- Training or coaching certifications in Leadership Development, Executive Coaching, or Mentorship
- Demonstrated ability to work with senior executives and diverse groups
Preferred:
- Experience in change management, strategic planning, and organizational development
- Alumni of the Female Future Program
Key Deliverables:
- Enable women to understand strategic decision-making, emotional intelligence, resilience, and vision setting
- Guide them in building transformational leadership identities
3. Board Competence Module Facilitator – 1 Position
Core Responsibility: To prepare women for active participation in governance by providing comprehensive boardroom skills and ethical oversight knowledge.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Master’s degree in Leadership & Governance, Corporate Law, or similar field
- Certification in Corporate Governance (e.g., CPS, IoD, or equivalent)
- At least 5 years experience in a C-Suite role (CEO/Managing Director level)
- Currently serving or have served on corporate or nonprofit boards
- Registered member of a recognized governance body or professional institute
Key Deliverables:
- Teach frameworks for risk management, board composition, strategic oversight, and fiduciary responsibility
- Conduct board simulation exercises, case studies, and panel evaluations
DESIRABLE PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES FOR ALL FACILITATORS
- Strong belief in inclusive leadership and women’s economic empowerment
- Familiarity with adult training methodologies and learning design
- Commitment to developing purpose-driven, ethical, and innovative leaders
- Flexibility to deliver in-person sessions, provide mentorship, and adapt to diverse learning needs
