ABOUT KENYATTA UNIVERSITY TEACHING, REFERRAL & RESEARCH HOSPITAL (KUTRRH)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
FULL-TIME POSITIONS (5-Year Renewable Contract)
1. Critical Care Nurse (8 Positions)
- Deliver specialized nursing care to patients in critical care units.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and respond promptly to emergencies.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to implement patient care plans.
- Operate and maintain life-support and monitoring equipment.
- Keep accurate and comprehensive patient records.
2. Midwifery Nurse (1 Position)
- Provide comprehensive maternal care services throughout prenatal, labor, delivery, and postnatal stages.
- Assist in the management of childbirth and monitor fetal development.
- Educate expectant mothers on maternal health, nutrition, and postnatal care.
- Work closely with obstetricians and gynecologists to manage patient care.
3. Cath-Lab Nurse (3 Positions)
- Assist in cardiac catheterization and other interventional cardiac procedures.
- Prepare sterile environments and handle specialized cath-lab equipment.
- Monitor patient vitals pre, during, and post procedures.
- Provide patient education on cardiac care and post-procedure instructions.
4. Theatre Nurse (2 Positions)
- Prepare operating rooms and surgical equipment.
- Provide perioperative care and assist surgeons during procedures.
- Ensure adherence to surgical safety protocols and sterile techniques.
- Monitor patient recovery post-operation and maintain accurate surgical records.
PART-TIME POSITIONS (Consultants on Empanelment Terms)
1. Anatomic/General Pathologist (1 Position)
- Conduct histopathological and cytological examinations.
- Interpret lab results to guide treatment plans.
- Supervise laboratory operations ensuring quality standards.
2. Neurologist (1 Position)
- Diagnose and manage neurological conditions such as epilepsy, strokes, and neurodegenerative disorders.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
3. Bariatric Surgeon (1 Position)
- Perform weight-loss surgical procedures including gastric bypass.
- Provide pre and post-operative patient education on care and recovery.
4. Pediatric Intensivist/Anesthesiologist (1 Position)
- Manage pediatric patients in intensive care settings.
- Provide anesthesia services for pediatric surgical procedures.
- Oversee pain management and post-operative care in pediatric patients.
5. Breast Surgeon (1 Position)
- Conduct surgical procedures related to breast health.
- Advise patients on treatment options and oversee post-operative care.
6. Paediatric Gastroenterologist (1 Position)
- Diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disorders in children.
- Perform necessary endoscopic procedures and dietary management.
7. Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon (1 Position)
- Perform surgeries on congenital and acquired heart and thoracic conditions in children.
- Work collaboratively with pediatric cardiologists to ensure optimal patient care.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Full-Time Nursing Positions:
- Academic qualification in Nursing (Diploma or Degree) from a recognized institution.
- Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
- Demonstrated experience relevant to the nursing specialization applied for.
- Ability to operate specialized medical equipment.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient care skills.
Part-Time Medical Consultants:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBChB) and specialization certifications as required.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Clinical experience in the respective medical specialization.
- Strong diagnostic, leadership, and collaborative abilities.
- Compliance with all professional licensing requirements.
