INTRODUCTION

The Bungoma National Polytechnic (TBNP), a public TVET institution registered under Kenya’s Ministry of Education, is pleased to announce internship opportunities for qualified graduates across six academic and technical departments.

This 12-month internship program is designed to provide young Kenyans with hands-on experience and practical exposure to complement their academic studies. The Polytechnic aims to equip interns with skills that enhance their competitiveness in the job market and improve their employment readiness.

Important Note: This internship is strictly non-renewable and does not lead to direct employment at the Polytechnic. However, it offers invaluable experience in a structured, professional environment.

ABOUT THE BUNGOMA NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC

Located in Bungoma County, The Bungoma National Polytechnic is a well-established public institution dedicated to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The Polytechnic offers a wide range of diploma, certificate, and artisan courses, contributing significantly to Kenya’s Vision 2030.

AVAILABLE INTERNSHIP POSITIONS

The Polytechnic is seeking applications from qualified, dynamic, and goal-oriented Diploma and Degree holders to serve in the following departments:

1. Electrical Department (1 Intern)

• Assist in lab and workshop demonstrations
• Maintain and organize electrical equipment
• Support student project supervision
• Participate in training sessions and departmental assessments

2. Human Resource Department (1 Intern)

• Support HR documentation and personnel record management
• Assist in recruitment and orientation processes
• Participate in organizing staff welfare activities
• Help implement performance appraisal tracking

3. Supply Chain Management (1 Intern)

• Assist in procurement documentation and filing
• Help monitor stock levels and prepare inventory reports
• Support vendor engagement and quotations tracking
• Learn public procurement regulations and institutional compliance

4. Fashion and Design Department (1 Intern)

• Help demonstrate practical skills to trainees
• Assist in garment production and display setup
• Contribute to creative design sessions and competitions
• Maintain sewing and fashion equipment

5. Applied Science Department (1 Intern)

• Support lab demonstrations and experiments
• Maintain chemical and lab inventory
• Assist in waste management and lab safety enforcement
• Help facilitate departmental research and report compilation

6. Building and Civil Engineering Department (1 Intern)

• Assist in drafting, site measurement, and drawing interpretation
• Maintain equipment in workshops and stores
• Participate in field activities or site visits
• Support supervision of practical assessments

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for these internship opportunities, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

• Must have graduated from a recognized university, college, or TVET institution.
• Possess a Degree, Diploma, or recognized professional qualification in a field relevant to the applied department.
• Be a Kenyan citizen below 34 years of age.
• Must provide a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.

IMPORTANT CONDITIONS

• The internship engagement will last for 12 months only.
• The Institute will not offer permanent employment at the end of the internship.
