Key Responsibilities
As the Manager / Legal Services & Corporation Secretary, your primary responsibilities will include:
Legal Advisory
- Offer legal counsel to the Board of Directors and executive management.
- Oversee the drafting, review, and management of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Corporate Governance
- Act as the Corporation Secretary, ensuring Board meetings are effectively managed and comply with legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive Board records and minutes.
- Provide advice on corporate governance best practices.
Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the organization.
- Implement policies and strategies to address emerging compliance risks.
- Manage legal risks by conducting regular audits and compliance assessments.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing legal services team, ensuring objectives are aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.
- Conduct training programs to improve compliance awareness across the organization.
Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate expertise in legal advisory, corporate governance, and leadership. Below are the minimum requirements for the role:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.
- Admission to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of corporate law, governance practices, and compliance frameworks.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and negotiate contracts effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Law or Corporate Governance is an added advantage.
- Certification in Governance and Leadership.
