KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver high-quality perioperative care, including assessing patient needs and ensuring safety before, during, and after surgery.
  • Assist surgeons in the operating theatre by handling surgical instruments, anticipating their needs, and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Conduct thorough preoperative assessments, review medical records, and verify that all necessary documentation is in order.
  • Administer prescribed medications and provide emotional support to alleviate patient anxiety before surgery.
  • Monitor patient vitals, assist with anesthesia administration, and manage surgical supplies to ensure a seamless surgical process.
  • Provide post-operative care, including monitoring vital signs, managing pain, and ensuring proper wound care.
  • Respond to and report any abnormalities in patient vitals to the appropriate medical personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, ensuring proper documentation and seamless handovers.
  • Assist anesthetists during the induction and reversal of anesthesia.
  • Implement emergency response procedures, including resuscitation, as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Diploma in Community Health Nursing.
  • Higher Diploma in Perioperative Nursing.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience, with at least one (1) year in perioperative nursing.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • A valid Nursing Council license.
  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention and safety protocols.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong customer service skills and a patient-centered approach.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High levels of integrity, honesty, and transparency.
